Zoë Keating is a one-woman orchestra. She uses a cello and a foot-controlled laptop to record layer upon layer of cello, creating intricate, haunting and compelling music. Handling the electric guitar as her muse, Sarah Lipstate summons a sonic palette so rich as to challenge the listener to conceive of how it’s housed in a single instrument manipulated by a solitary performer. The Low End String Quartet is a re-imagining of the classical string quartet. The instrumentation differs, adding a bass, dropping a violin, and swapping in an electric guitar for the viola.
Damian’s note: In one evening, these three artists will create what I believe will be one of the highlight concerts, not just of our series, but anywhere. Join us and explore some of the most interesting and engaging work being created today.
